How to Get AMS / Medical Cert (Step-by-Step)
Step 1) Find a clinic that can do AMS
- AMS must be performed by a Singapore-registered doctor or an Occupational Therapist (OT). :contentReference[oaicite:13]{index=13}
- If you already have a regular doctor/OT, start there.
- If not, you can use LTA’s lists for clinics that provide AMS and indicative charges. :contentReference[oaicite:14]{index=14}
Step 2) Call and book an appointment
- Ask if they can complete AMS and whether they can submit the digital form to LTA for you. :contentReference[oaicite:15]{index=15}
- Fees vary by clinic and complexity — confirm pricing before you go. :contentReference[oaicite:16]{index=16}
Step 3) Submit to LTA (2 ways)
- Digital submission: If your doctor/OT submits digitally, you usually don’t need to submit anything else. :contentReference[oaicite:17]{index=17}
- Hardcopy form: If the clinic uses hardcopy, you’ll need to scan/take a clear photo and submit via LTA’s FormSG link. :contentReference[oaicite:18]{index=18}
Step 4) Verify your CMN status (OneMotoring)
- You can verify on LTA OneMotoring after submission.
- Status may take up to about 1 week to appear. :contentReference[oaicite:19]{index=19}
Other 2026 PMA Rules You Should Know
1) Speed limit on paths
All motorised PMAs must not exceed 6 km/h on public paths. LTA also notes existing motorised PMAs (up to 10 km/h device speed) can continue to be used until end-2028, but still must travel no faster than 6 km/h on paths. :contentReference[oaicite:20]{index=20}
2) Size & weight limit
On public paths: 120cm (L) × 70cm (W) × 150cm (H) and 300kg max laden weight (including user). Medically necessary oversize needs must be certified via AMS. :contentReference[oaicite:21]{index=21}
3) Registration (important for retailers first)
- From 1 Jun 2026: Retailers can only display/advertise/sell registered mobility scooters & equivalents that meet speed and size rules. :contentReference[oaicite:22]{index=22}
- Mid-2027: Registration of existing mobility scooters will commence (more details to be released). :contentReference[oaicite:23]{index=23}
- By 1 Jan 2029: Mobility scooters used on public paths will need to be registered; maximum device speed of all PMAs must not exceed 6 km/h. :contentReference[oaicite:24]{index=24}
Got a Non-Compliant / Lookalike Device?
If you’re unsure whether your device is compliant, don’t gamble. Enforcement begins 1 June 2026 and non-compliant devices may be subject to action. :contentReference[oaicite:25]{index=25}
Bring your device down for an assessment. If it’s not suitable, we can advise on safer options and proper disposal paths.
